Meet The Face Behind Studio D Interiors
I am Desiree Gaunt, the proud owner of Studio D Interiors. I would like to share my journey into the interior design world with you.
Born in South Africa, I have had a lifelong passion and awareness for design, being in the interior design field for over thirty years. I have worked and lived in South Africa, Prague, Paris, London, Singapore, Bucharest, and now, Virginia, USA.
During my studies and travels, I achieved an Advanced Diploma and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Architecture at the Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore and attended the KLC School of Design in Chelsea, London. I also completed my second Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco, supplementing my European design experience and knowledge with American standards and styles.
Before moving to the United States, I owned and managed a retail interior decorating store in South Africa along with a soft furnishings and upholstery workroom.
After moving to Europe, I consulted in interior design from my home office and gained valuable and diverse knowledge of products and finishes used in the industry. I would say that living and working in Prague, Paris, London and Bucharest was an enormous inspirational experience for my work.
After moving to Singapore, I decided to qualify formally and attended the acclaimed Lasalle College of the Arts for 4 years, whilst continuing to consult on a more commercial design basis. I designed a hair salon and worked on golf resort accommodations. I began to venture into garden design.
In the USA, my initial focus was on property staging, this aspect of my business continues with interior design services growing ever since.
The most rewarding part of my work is the process of conceptual design to fruition. As my clients begin to live in and enjoy the space after I have designed it, I realize how important it is to be meticulous about various design elements and believe tranquil perfection is the end product of a well-planned space.
As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from others is my integrity, confidence, communication and accountability. As an Interior Designer, I take responsibility for decisions made. I believe in honesty and integrity as the core values of all that I do.
I attribute my success to the completion of many great projects that exceeded my clients’ expectations, gaining their trust and earning their referrals.
The fact that most of my current business is a result of recommendations from satisfied and happy clients has given me immense satisfaction over the years.
When at home relaxing, I most enjoy golfing, gardening, entertaining and walking my dogs.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
